This summer, our agent Sharon Salisbury and Stephen sponsored a Taco Night for a Missions Trip and Youth Conference for the Gastonia Stake Youth Conference in June. The Gastonia Stake Youth Conference is a church based organization for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in the Greater Charlotte, NC area that serves areas from Huntersville, NC to York, SC. Sharon is a member of the church and this is an organization that is very near and dear to her heart as well as her family’s.
This was a three-day trip to learn more of the history of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and the students also contributed to a local service project to benefit the community in the state of New York. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints has a long history that begin in New York and eventually brought them to current day Utah for their church base but they do have churches around the world. This trip walks the youth group through what the church went through during their earlier days. The Gastonia Stake Youth Conference hosted 225 teenagers from ages 14-18 for this missions trip this year. One night of the trip the youth enjoyed a taco night that Sharon and Stephen were thrilled to sponsor and Sharon’s husband, Chestin who was a chaperon on the trip, gave out Stephen Cooley Real Estate Group backpacks to every student on the trip to utilize during the course of their stay and once they got home.
