- “The first step is to search for homes.” This does not need to be the first step because many times the homes you are looking at are out of your price range, so it gives unrealistic expectations.
- “I need a 20% down payment to buy a home.” This also isn’t true! There are so many different programs that only require a 3-5% downpayment and some are even 0%.
- “I don’t need a real estate agent.” When buying a home, the seller’s pay the buyer agent’s commission. For the buyer’s, there is no charge! That means you are getting expert advice and someone to negotiate on your behave for free!
- “I have to find my forever home.” Many people think that the first home they buy needs to be their forever home. This is not true because every few years we are in different stages of our lives and need different things. You don’t want to have to pay to upkeep space that you are years out from needing.
