Tankless Water Heaters – The Stephen Cooley Real Estate Show

STEPHEN: Hello, I’m Stephen Cooley and welcome to Stephen Cooley Real Estate Show. I’m out at one of my most favorite places to visit – that’s York County Natural Gas and I’m visiting again with Melissa Buddin. Welcome back to the show Melissa.

MELISSA: Thank you very much.

STEPHEN: I love coming out here because I have really one of everything and it makes my life so convenient.

MELISSA: We like to hear that.

STEPHEN: Yeah, I hated taking that tank and getting it filled up every time I cook the steak and now never have to worry about that again.

MELISSA: That’s right.

STEPHEN: And a couple years ago I got this wonderful thing, and it solved all my problems with running out of hot water.

MELISSA: They’re wonderful units.

STEPHEN: Yeah, and so I understand there’s something going on here so 60th year in business.

MELISSA: Our 60th anniversary. We have a sale going on right now. Most of our plans are $100 off for offering $60 off of any piping and connecting of this plan.

STEPHEN: And that’s going on for 60 days up until to your anniversary.

MELISSA: Correct, okay, which will be on October the 6th. We’re having a big open house here for public natural gas wings. Any public is invited. We’d love to have you come out and have lunch with us.

STEPHEN: And that’s gas logs, it’s grills, it’s these wonderful things.

MELISSA: The tankless water heaters.

STEPHEN: and all that kind of stuff. I want to talk today about switching.. I know people still buy this but switching to this because this is endless hot water so you never run out of hot water again, and the other thing I like about it I’m not heating water until I need it.

MELISSA: Exactly.

STEPHEN: So tell us about these systems.

MELISSA: Well with a tankless water heater obviously you’re going to have a space Saver. Which is great. It’s going to save money. And also the nice thing you can control the temperature of your water, which is just a huge thing to me. I’ve really enjoyed that about my unit, but one of the new things that we have is a recirculating tankless. So if you have a larger home and you have a long way to get hot water..

STEPHEN: Yes, because I do wait a couple minutes sometimes, it’s in the winter for this stuff to get to my master bedroom.

MELISSA: Right, the hot water still has to travel down those hot waterlines, so but with a recirculating unit you have instant hot water. A lot of people I think believe that just a standard tankless offers you that. It doesn’t and it offers you endless hot water which you know but with a recirculating unit yes, it is instant and endless.

STEPHEN: So I meet with people sometimes and I think you can only do this when you build a home. You actually with your remodeling or if you just want to get rid of the tank water heater. You can switch to these which is what I did – my home was 10 years old when I switched to this system so tell us about that.

MELISSA: We retrofit homes all the time with tankless water heaters. People that want to get them out of their attics or it’s in the laundry room where it’s just kind of in the way.

STEPHEN: When I had this in my attic it blocked my whole entire access to my attic and once I got rid of it I can walk into my whole entire attic.

MELISSA: That and just the risk of having 50 or 60 gallons of hot water upstairs was never a good option.

STEPHEN:That was the other problem. It was right over my kitchen and I had a couple of leaks and so this absolutely solved that problem.

MELISSA: And for my home, because my home is not large and my tank water here was in my laundry room, took up a lot of space so I wanted the external unit which is wonderful for me because I’ve got all that space freed up now. There’s not a water heater at all at my home.

STEPHEN: And some people who don’t have natural gas to their home natural gas is pretty much available all over York County.

MELISSA: For the most part.

STEPHEN: So if you don’t have natural gas to be checked it’s probably out there on the street ready to be hooked up to your house.

MELISSA: Yeah, I call customer service any time.

STEPHEN: Yeah, wonderful never running out of hot water. It’s wonderful having a gas grill that you never run out of gas and it’s wonderful to walk into your home and flip on those logs and it look like a roaring fire that you didn’t have to build.

MELISSA: And you also don’t have to wait for it to go out to go to bed. Just turn it back off when you’re done.

STEPHEN: So you got everything on display here at York County Natural Gas that can come in actually play with the logs, they can play with the gas grills, they can look at these systems. Tell folks your hours, where you’re located and how to get you.
