Tega Cay Real Estate

In 1970, the Ervine Company began to build on 1,600 acres that bordered Lake Wylie and was once owned by Duke Power, this became known as Tega Cay. Tega Cay, which is Polynesian for beautiful peninsula, initially began as a neighborhood only. Throughout the entire neighborhood from street names, architecture, and design the Polynesian theme continued. It’s important to note that roads, clubhouses, tennis courts, and golf courses were the initial focus for the neighborhood and homes were built later.

In 1982, Tega Cay grew from just a residential community to an actual city. The city appointed a Mayor, council members, and a police department. Tega Cay has continued to develop, in 2000 the city annexed the areas of Stonecrest, Crescent, and Nivens Creek Landing.

Tega Cay is one of the safest communities in South Carolina as residents allow their elementary aged students to bike to school. You can truly live ‘The Good Life,’ in Tega Cay as it’s the #1 best city to live in within South Carolina according to the Niche’s 2018 ‘Best Places to Live.’ Tega Cay is close to Charlotte and is adjacent to Fort Mill, allowing for an easy commute and close proximity to area attractions.
